A day in the life and home of a child in an informal settlement

I am Lulu Bonga  and 10 years old and have 5 sisters. I am living in a shack with my 3 sisters I wake up and there is no food in the cupboards for breakfast. My parents are struggling to can't a good job to feed us.So I go to school with an empty tummy.I walk about 4km to get to school and on the way my shoes get damaged but now they have build a path for us so we can walk through it .When I got there it's so crowded,there aren't enough chairs and we share pencils. it's really cramped and hard,some even sit on the floor or on  buckets I could not focus or write properly.  But at the end of the day government had provided food us.The next day I did not want to go to school because I had no shoes and it was wet and cold,but outside the window I saw little children playing in the rubbish. But they can get diseases and I felt sorry. So I went to them and asked them to get out It took a while but they got out. a few days later I felt sick and a mouth later my mother was sick I thought the sickness had speared since we all live on top of each other. But on the 2th of June there was a cloudburst and my sister Uma who was 5 years old was out there playing, as it was rainy she was trying to get out but she could not walk out so easily.The flood was getting heavier and Uma was drowning and I went out to save her but I couldn't swim and I grabbed her hand I was so terrified,afraid,scared and alarmed but I could not hold on any longer. I thought it was time for me to leave this world but as long as I knew my family,the Bonga family was safe,well fead and care-free as it was time for me sister and I  to go.

The Singing Inspector's Visit

Im Gladys Armstrong and last week it was a normal day at school but the singing inspector came to our school and he is horrible.It's Mr Raymond,the singing inspector, he wears big knickerbockers and thick skockings like a hunting man. He had a red face and had golden curls on his head.He called everyone the hall to expect us. We did doh ray me tata tete.Then Mr Raymond called Benny and Charls to sing, they stood in front but never knew a song to sing.Mr Raymond Shoutout “What can you sing”. Charls said in a low voice we can sing Pretty Polly then sing it said Mr Raymond. It was horrible Charls and Benny pretty polly pretty polly in a squeaky voice.This was a waste time shoutout Mr Raymond.They send them to out it was embarrassing. Thats when he called Iris and I we were trying to hide but it was no help he saw us. I was shaking and he said “the deaf and the dum weres  your voice girl” it was horrible he called us terrible names and it really hurt my  feelings.
He called Winne and Gladys Long sing and they sang like the sweetest birds in the sky and he called them to help us and called us paralyzed mutes. I hope that he gets punished for what he does to little boys and girls.

Mrs Fluffers (a fantasy Peom)

Mrs Fluffers is a huge pink ball of fluff and she is 

Quite a ball energy.She is

pink with three gigantic 

eyes and hairy legs and arms 

and she is very kind and when 

she walks,she walks so 

 hilariously.When you laugh,

your eyes burn 

she is never angry,always happy 

she is so squishy, if you squeeze her too hard 

she will exsplode

News in Grade 5

Last Week we had ILT which stands for Intergraded Learned Task.
It is when our teacher puts us in to partners and work a Task and my partner was Amy . Our Task was to choose a soil creature and presented a oral to the class .My partner was Amy and Amy and I researched some soil creatures and decided to do it on a Mole Cricket , because everyone was doing similar things so we wanted to be different and ordinary. I dressed up as a little girl and my partner dressed as a Mole Cricket. It was so much fun decorating our poster and  specially that Amy and I have sort of the same mind.We 
worked well Together At times it was a little frustrating but we made it and I thought we presented a amazing oral.







I am so excited about camp especially that it's in 2 more days.I am sort of nervous but also very very very exciting it's gonna be weird to eat there food because I normally only like the food my Mom and Dad cook.I hope my bunk mates are Tatum and Taya.I can't wait to see what fun activities they have for us be am not really a outdoor person.But the best thing is it's like your having a sleepover with your friends for 2 nights.Its cool because we get to swim in the Breede River how exciting is that.
